Kinks in gravatar service

I thought that Gravatar was supposed to quit having outages now that it’s been acquired by automattic ? It’s spitting out 503 Service Unavailable messages today. Grrr.

Happy Introvert Day! Introverts of the World, Unite!

Introverts, unite!

I’m perfectly happy to stay home and read a book, watch a movie, or play a board game with my wife. As much as my wife loves parties, group get-togethers, and having company, that’s not so much my thing. Well, unless it’s all people that I know, and I’ll have plenty of opportunity to actually talk with individuals in the group. But when it’s the church’s Christmas party, or a whole bunch of people at a Halloween party, I’d rather not go. As far as I’m concerned, we’ll just be walking around repeating the same dull conversation with everybody:

Hi, how are you. Really? Yeah, me too. Good pizza. Mmm-hmm. So what’s your costume? Great. Actually I could tell what it is, but I’m just asking because I can’t figure out what else to say. What’s the point of this party again?

So unite, introverts, unite! You have nothing to lose but your dull, forced conversations!

Happy introvert day .

Gmail Users: Critical Security Hack

Attention Gmail users: A couple months ago, hackers found a way to insert a “filter” into your account that would automatically forward certain emails (for example, ones containing the word “password”) to the hacker’s email address. Gmail has fixed the vulnerability (meaning that new filters can’t be added), but if hackers added such a filter to your account, it will still be in place.

If you use gmail, do this right now:

  • Log in to gmail
  • Click on “settings”
  • Click on “filters”
  • Look at the filters and verify that all of them are ones you (not a hacker) created
